Freshmen Arrive in Droves

Let's make it official 645 regular freshmen are all moved in! Let Freshmen Orientation begin! Karen Guttentag made it look effortless in the Welcome Center at Kenyon which had MCAB staffers welcoming and orienting students as well as parents.

Speaking of parents, check out this freshman parent: mother is washing this kid's windows for him! I don't know whether to be jealous or worried... (She asked not to be identified).

Other statistics and facts:

  • 12 Transfer Students
  • 10 Exchange Students
  • 110 Febs in the Class of 2011.5!
  • 10 freshmen live in Prescott House
  • 2 freshmen live in Painter
  • Gifford no longer has study lounges (turned into freshmen housing)
  • Dining Services eliminated the use of trays in the dining halls (environmental conservation & they don't want to let us use them as sleds in the winter)
  • Dining Services removed salt and pepper from the dining halls (why?)

as for the salt + pepper, it was out last week, now it's gone...

I'm so PISSED I'll never get to go tray sledding.

What I want to know is what they did with all the trays? I know I've seen some of them affixed to the disk rotating thingies in Atwater, but what about the rest of them? They should really give them out for TRAY SLEDDING!

The trays were removed because a student found that the dining hall was unable to effectively clean them. The student took a swab of clean trays and found a considerable amount of e.coli on them.

the salt/pepper may be gone due to the "once a day" game... haha

on the books...
