Weekend Update: Friday

Cultural and Spiritual Significance of the Teepee and Sweat Lodge
If anyone can figure out exactly what this is, please tell us. MiddBlog is in full support of dispelling any myths originating from Disney's Pocohantas and therefore support cultural activities like this on Battell Beach.

Date: Friday-Saturday, November 3rd-4th, 2006
Time: 4PM
Venue: Battell Beach

Mt. Ayres Sing the Library

The week's over. Why spend more time in the library? To hear the sweet sounds of music resonate in its halls -- haha, and the librarians can't shush them! Middlebury Musician's Guild (MMG) is promoting a series of Friday concerts in the Library. The Ayres, if I do say so myself, should we well suited to the space.

Date: Friday, November 3rd, 2006
Time: 5:00PM
Venue: The "New" Library

MCAB FFF: Scoop

Yes, this would be a Woody Allen movie, but perhaps not his best work. Guys, go see it for Scarlet Johansson. Girls, well..., go see it with a guy. The plot is mildly amusing but not altogether wonderful. Dry humor, as always with Woody.

Date: Friday, November 3rd, 2006
Time: 4:30, 7:00, 10:00 showings
Venue: Dana Auditorium

Wonnacott Global Rhythms

"Global Rhythms" implies a "global" theme but think twice before calling this event a cultural extravaganza. Wonnacott has rounded up a whole host performance groups around campus. It will feature at least one premier of a new band on campus.

Date: Friday, November 3rd, 2006
Time: 7:30
Venue: McCullough Social Space

Rubik's Cube Party

Come wearing lots of colors...leave wearing one. With 109 people already RSVP'd on Facebook for this lovely event, this could be the dance party of the weekend should it not be shutdown prematurely. Stripping isn't against school policy, is it?

Date: Friday, November 3rd, 2006
Time: 10:30PM-1:30AM
Venue: LoFo (Lower Forest West Basement)

Somehow the "Events at Middlebury" table-top calendar doesn't hack it. Weekend Update provides you with the latest and greatest events at Midd in the 96 hours starting Thursday and ending Sunday. Think we're missing something? Tip us off: middblog [at] gmail [dot] com.
