Smog 2: New Sculpture at Hillcrest

Middlebury got its yearly dose of CAPP (Committee for Art in Public Places) today as a new sculpture installation went up outside of the all-new Hillcrest (which btw, is beautiful and green and houses Bill McKibben's office. MiddBlog likes Bill). I will refrain from quoting the harsh comments I've already received. Just tell me it didn't cost in the millions of dollars or even in the hundreds of thousands. Hit the comments for I am at a loss of words...

Here's one: hideous.

Ok, so I'll agree that it doesn't look that great in the pictures...but I think we should reserve judgment until we see it in person in a few weeks when the ground around it is filled in and the foundation of the sculpture is not so visible.

Does it look like a pile of trash bags to anyone else?

for the uninitiated, it's tire--all tire!

We were waiting for the garbage trucks to haul it away until we realized it was CAPP's newest addition to campus...
